Fatima has been with the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association since the merger in 1999.  In her capacity of corporate marketing, business development and servicing programs for its members, the member is her highest priority.  With 11,000 restaurants, hotels & motels in the ORHMA portfolio, it is important that we continue to provide value added programs and resources to all the members across the province.

Her extensive hospitality management background provided her with experience from Holiday Inns, Venture Inns, Travelodge Hotels & Quality Inn properties.  This experience led her to teach for a number of years at Humber College of Applied Arts & Technology.

The hospitality sector is one of benchmarking customer service, leadership and accommodation.  Areas of special interest are Energy Efficiency, Conservation & Sustainability and Accessibility.  The area of Energy Efficiency has brought much awareness with partnered initiatives with Ontario Power Authority, Ministry of Natural Resources, Enbridge Gas Distribution, Toronto Hydro and many others.

ORHMA’s work in Accessibility has demonstrated great leadership in a time prior to the AODA.  The Diversity Recruitment Program ran for 3 years and saw 100+ disabled hires in the hospitality sector.  ORHMA also introduced the Adaptive Cooking Classes where industry chefs taught the disabled community how to cook by means of adaptive gadgets and devices. Introducing fresh fruits and vegetables into everyday eating and helping take away the fear of cooking enabled many to not cook from frozen state to the microwave.  ORHMA remains committed to Accessibility for Ontarians and those travelling into an accommodating and inclusive province.

Fatima is fluent in 3 languages (English, French & Portuguese) and attempts to make Irish her 4th official language.  Fatima resides in Toronto with her husband Brian and are the proud parents of Kalene who is making her way in the hospitality industry.
