Tony Elenis is President & CEO of the Ontario Restaurant Hotel and Motel Association, the largest provincial hospitality association in Canada representing approximately 4,000 members and 11,000 establishments in the hospitality sector.  Tony was appointed to this position in April 2008.  

As an Ontario hospitality leader with over 35 years of industry experience and a proven track record of positive contributions to hospitality and management, Tony Elenis is dedicated to supporting the hospitality and tourism industry of Ontario.   

Prior to his arrival at the ORHMA, Tony managed award winning hotels including his past position as General Manager of the 445 guest room Holiday Inn Select Toronto Airport managed by InterContinental Group of Hotels, a company in which he has been employed with for 27 years.    His employment over the years has taken him to many cities in the Province of Ontario including Sarnia, Windsor, Oakville, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie where he first settled upon arrival from his native country of Greece.

Tony is a past Chairman of the Ontario Restaurant Hotel & Motel Association (ORHMA) and also sits on the Board of Directors for the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC).   Tony’s other passion lies within the World of Food and Wine, its lore and its history.   His expertise and creativity in food and beverage operations is well recognized within the industry.   He has been involved in many food and beverage advisory and steering committees driving successful initiatives.   He currently sits on the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) as the ORHMA representative, and is part of the Executive Board of the Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance (OCTA).

Tony’s wealth of experience allows him to understand the issues and recognize the economic realities faced by the industry.  His proven leadership and strategic abilities will be indispensable in meeting the diverse needs of the ORHMA members and in enhancing the industry’s competitive position.  He recognizes that the Association needs to be continually progressive, and that we need to be proactive in our approach to government.  Tony has the network and contacts already in place to ensure that the industry’s voice is heard across the province.

Tony presently resides in Bolton, Ontario with his wife Elaine and their two sons Andrew and John Anthony.

My favourite Band is Led Zeppelin

What was your first hospitality or customer service job?

I worked as a dishwasher but after 2 weeks and after breaking too many glasses, I graduated and was promoted to the Bell Desk and saved the operation lots of dollars
