In a unique turn of events, the Ontario Government announced their 2003 Budget The Right Choices: Securing our Future on May 27th. This televised event, hosted at the Magna International training facility in Brampton has caused some controversy, as it is the first time in parliamentary tradition that a budget has been announced outside the legislature. The budget contained very few initiatives targeted directly at the hospitality industry, but the Government managed to retain their fiscal responsibility/tax-cut brand. Hopefully, continued balanced budgets, reductions in personal and corporate taxes will increase disposable income and boost consumer confidence.
